Welcome to the Department of Computer Science!

UPV Cebu College's BS in Computer Science program evolved from the mathematics program of the NSMD in the 1990s and its current nomenclature adopted from UPLB. Having been awarded the CHED Center of Excellence for I.T. Education (CHED-COE) in 2007, the DCS boasts as the youngest academic and the only COE unit of the UPV Cebu and the only other COE among Cebu's Computer Science schools. With this status, computer science has become the flagship program of the College in 2007.

Computer science is relatively a new discipline, the program at UPVCC is closest to the core program of most computer science program elsewhere and thus, its graduates are easily assimilated into the work force. That is what differentiates UP Computer Science graduates from the rest.
